Our story
About Us
A ridge, a family, a harvest
Fields Range Farms began in 1987, when the Hart family bought a windy parcel above The Grange Sideroad and planted the first currant rows. What started as a few acres for the kitchen table is now a working berry farm known for haskap, black currant, and — later each autumn — schisandra.
Today the farm is run by Claire and Tomas Hart, with their parents still walking the rows at first light in June. We are not a large operation. Most days you will find someone from the family in the store, packing boxes, or showing a visitor which bushes are ready.
We grow for flavour and for the season, not for year-round volume. When a crop is finished, we say so. When it is coming, we count the days with you.
How we farm
Grown here
Every berry on our shelves is planted, tended, and picked on this land. We do not bring in fruit from elsewhere and call it ours.
Organic by practice
We farm without synthetic pesticides, keep our hedgerows wild for pollinators, and rest fields between plantings.
Open gates
The farm is a place of work and a place of welcome. We want families to know where their food comes from — and to leave with stained fingers.
If you are planning a visit, we would love to show you the ridges in person. The farm store is the best first stop — and the kettle is usually on.
